Abstract
A thymectomy by partial sternotomy was considered for a young lady whose medication therapy for nonthymomic myasthenia gravis had failed. To improve sternal stability after surgery and prevent fracture of the opposite sternal flange, the vertical arm of the "L" incision may be moved laterally.
