Abstract
Purpose: To provide a synopsis of the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures involving carotid body tumors (CBTs). Research Tools and Procedures: In 18 instances, digital subtraction angiography (DSA) confirmed CBT. Ten patients required tumor resection under the carotid adventitial plane, five involving the external carotid artery, and three involving both the internal and external arteries simultaneously. The outcome was that none of the 18 instances had mortality or serious sequelae. There was no evidence of recurrence or metastasis in the 18 individuals we followed up with. Conclusion: When it comes to diagnosing CBT, DSA is considered the gold standard. Satisfactory surgical outcomes are possible after confirmation with adequate prior preparation, a complete preoperative evaluation, and the right surgical techniques
