Abstract
One of the leading causes of death and disability from cardiovascular disease is diabetes mellitus. This condition quadruples the chance of developing peripheral arterial disease, cerebrovascular disease, and coronary artery disease. There has been a recent uptick in research on endothelial dysfunction as a potential risk factor for vascular disease in people with diabetes mellitus. This review article discusses new advances that may enhance our understanding of endothelial dysfunction caused by diabetes.
