Abstract
After liberalization, India saw a surge in mergers and acquisitions, but the country has also been the target of hostile takeover efforts. In the business world, hostile takeovers of corporations are rather common. There have been two types of business takeovers since liberalization: amicable and aggressive. The governing group voluntarily transfers control of its shares to another party in a friendly takeover. A hostile takeover occurs when one or more outside groups aggressively try to seize control of a corporation without first obtaining approval from the current ruling group.
